Victoria – Guest Service Representatives

We are currently seeking intelligent and organized team players to join our Victoria operations for the upcoming 2015 whale watching season! Guest Service Representatives will work in small teams to establish meaningful connections with potential guests who are reaching out to us in order to plan their vacation(s) and gather information about our tours. We take pride in the level of service that we provide and it is important that you share this value. You will be responsible for greeting guests in a timely manner and helping to guide them through their entire experience at Prince of Whales.

You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and have experience using Microsoft Office applications. Because you will be working with a digital reservations system, attention to detail is very important. Adaptability, a positive attitude, a high level of professionalism, and the ability to connect quickly with guests from all over the world is essential to success. You must be proficient at working in a fast paced environment and must possess the ability to multitask. It is essential that you are able to actively listen and stay calm under stress.

Additional responsibilities will include answering guest inquiries by email, working closely with tourism partners to create third party reservations, and assisting in the day to day operations of Prince of Whales. Other administrative and support tasks will be assigned as needed and there will be some time spent outside helping with outdoor kiosk sales as well as passenger departures and returns.

Victoria – Outside Kiosk Sales

Outdoor kiosk sales agents will be positioned outside of the Tourism Victoria Visitor’s Center at a mobile sales desk and serve as the first point of contact for guests looking for activities to do while visiting Victoria. Working at the kiosk provides the unique opportunity to learn about personal selling and about our beautiful city, while remaining outside under the sun. Prince of Whales is looking for outgoing individuals who are enthusiastic and personable; someone who is not afraid to start a casual conversation with a visitor who is new to Victoria. You are expected to know our tours inside and out to be able to communicate the features, advantages, and benefits of our products to each guest in a short period of time. The ideal candidate will possess strong communications skills and have a proactive approach to team communications.

Victoria – Guest Greeters/Group Facilitators

Prince of Whales Whale Watching is currently seeking exciting and energetic hosts and hostesses to join our operations team for the upcoming 2015 season. Guest greeters & group facilitators are the first point of contact for guests arriving to our facility. You will possess strong public speaking skills and have the ability to capture and hold the attention of a small audience. You will be responsible for greeting each new guest as they arrive on site for check-in. You will also be the main point of contact with each of our tour guides as they arrive and depart from our dock throughout the day. You play an integral role in connecting the efforts of our sales team with the efforts of those managing our operations. It is your duty to ensure that every guest is adequately prepared for their experience prior to leaving the dock. Other duties may include outdoor sales, back office preparation (suiting and de-suiting), answering phone calls and processing reservations, and responding to in person inquiries about a wide variety of tours and packages.

Victoria – Naturalists/Deckhands

Prince of Whales Whale Watching, British Columbia’s largest marine eco-tourism company is looking to hire naturalists/deckhands, experienced in the marine wildlife viewing industry. This is seasonal, on call work aboard a 60 Ton vessel called the Ocean Magic II based out of Victoria. Crew could be called as early as May to crew our 3 hour tours; the season runs until approximately end of September.

Candidates will have the Marine Emergencies Duties A2 certification and First Aid.

Experience in the whale watching or marine wildlife industry is important since tourism and respect for the environment is integral to our business. It is important that applicants have a strong interest in, and knowledge of marine mammals local to the area. They must look forward to the educational aspect of this job. Victoria – 60 Ton First Mates

Prince of Whales Whale Watching, British Columbia’s largest marine eco-tourism company is looking to hire a First Mate, experienced in the marine wildlife viewing industry. Our 60 Ton Ocean Magic requires a capable First Mate to help conduct three hour whale watching tours three times a day (9am, 12:15pm, 3:30pm) from April 1st – October 31st. Candidates will have a minimum 60 Ton First Mate’s ticket along with associated radio operators certificate, marine emergency duties, and marine first aid. A strong candidate would also have the unrestricted SVMO, but it is not required.

Experience in the whale watching or marine wildlife industry is important since tourism and respect for the environment is integral to our business. It is important that applicants have a strong interest in, and knowledge of marine mammals local to the area. They must look forward to the educational aspect of this job.

Victoria – 60 Ton Captains

Prince of Whales Whale Watching, British Columbia’s largest marine eco-tourism company is looking to hire a 60 Ton Captain, experienced in the marine wildlife viewing industry. Our 60 Ton Ocean Magic requires a capable Captain to run our vessel on three hour whale watching tours from Victoria from April 1st – October 31st. Our schedule is four days on and four days off (approximately). It is seasonal, on-call work.

Candidates will have a minimum 60 Ton Captain’s ticket along with associated radio operators certificate, marine emergency duties, and marine first aid. A strong candidate would also have the Unrestricted SVMO.
