The Ocean Magic Marine Wildlife Adventure Aug 9 was amazing. Our skipper Jeff took us east just off the Victoria Waterfront to view Transient Killer Whales. We viewed T20 and T21, these are the apex predators of the worlds oceans. They were working their way west, cutting in close to shore as they moved along. We then headed further west and stopped to view some Harbour Seals basking on the rocks. We then carried on west to San Juan Island. Here we viewed Resident Killer Whales. These were members of L Pod, fish eating Orca. They were working the water close to shore for salmon. Diving deep after several breaths on the surface. This was a super trip, views of two types of Orca, our guests were all smiles when we docked in the inner harbour.

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
