Ocean Magic Marine Wildlife Adventure July 21 9am

It certainly was an morning to be on the water. The sun was out and the conditions calm. We observed many forms of marine craft plying the waters. We had a report of Orca way west of Victoria so Capt Gord and his crew Casey and Jenn headed the vessel west out past Race Rocks and up the westside of Vancouver Island. Members of L Pod, salmon eating Resident Orca were heading away past Sheringham Lighthouse. It was along the shoreline past the lighthouse that we saw members of L Pod. Most of the whales of L Pod were grouped up an a slow travelling formation. It was truly a magical trip with glimpses of our favourite whales, the Orca!

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
