Ocean Magic Marine Wildlife Adventure June 2 3:30pm

Under partly cloudy skies the 3:30 Ocean Magic headed north up Haro Strait once out of the harbour. Capt. Gord and our all female crew of naturalists, Casey, Emily and Claire provided our guests with a fun filled and educational trip as we encountered some of the wildlife found here on the westcoast. A group of five Transient Orca were seen earlier south of James Island. We found them working their way south. These are the apex predators of the marine environment. We then headed back to the Victoria and spotted a humpback whale. We had the ‘Prince of Whales’ sister vessel ‘Ocean Magic’ watch the Humpback with us. What a great trip, once again, full of westcoast wildlife for our international guests.

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
