There isn’t a better way to spend an October day, than taking a wildlife trip out of Victoria with Prince of Whales. Enjoying the amazing marine mammals to be found here in these waters is good for the soul. Capt. Scott had reports of Humpback Whales near Racerocks this afternoon. We headed out of the harbour and turned south west. We even caught sight of many of the migrant sea birds, all grouped up on the water. We found the Humpback Whales actively working the water, up for a few breaths then down showing tail for a deep dive. Capt Scott and his crew, Liz, and Dan, set the Ocean Magic this Saturday afternoon in an excellent position so we could watch this incredible, whales, doing what is natural for them. We then spotted a group of Dall;s Porpoise, gracefully rising for air, Capt. Scott then took us for a tour of Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. Here we viewed Stellar and Californian Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, and many sea birds. Just another wonderful day on the water with Prince Of Whales!

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm telephoto lens. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
