Ocean Magic Wildlife Adventure Sept 2 12:15

The sun shone, the seas were flat calm as the 12.15 Ocean Magic headed west once out of the harbour. Capt. Scott and our crew of marine biologist Mika and naturalists, Nichola and Dan provided our guests with a fun filled and educational trip as we encountered some of the wildlife found here on the west coast. A group of four Transient Orca were reported just south east of Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. These are the apex predators of the marine environment. We watched as they made their way through Race Rocks and along the shore line. We also took in the sights of Sea Lions working the waters around Race Rcoks, Harbour Seals, and sea birds added interest to this trip. What a great trip, once again, full of west coast wildlife for our international guests.

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm telephoto lens. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
