Our Ocean Magic II 9am trip took us East past the picturesque Victoria waterfront and over to Stuart Island where we caught up with J and K pods. The Resident (fish eating) Orca were in several groups as they were headed north towards Turn Point Park on the northern tip od Stuart Island. Our Skipper Scotty put us in excellent position to view these amazing animals. The water was like glass and the sun was out, the conditions were perfect as we view the Killer Whales as they worked along the shoreline, and further out mid channel. This was a perfect wildlife adventure, sun, flat calm seas and amazing sightings of these majestic Orca! Yet another great adventure with Prince of Whales!
Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm telephoto lens. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
