Daily Sightings Report- August 19

One of the perks of our early 8:30am Zodiac departure is that we are usually the first boat on scene with the whales, and today Skipper Mark found them just off the Victoria waterfront! Our morning trips enjoyed the resident killer whales as they swam East away from Victoria toward San Juan Island, while others chose to check out a nearby a group of transient killer whales that were heading the opposite direction towards Sooke. We also caught up with two large humpbacks at Constance Bank, and a gray whale off Race Rocks! We don’t typically see Gray Whales on our trips, so this sighting was a pleasant surprise on an already fantastic trip. For those who went West, we also stopped to look at California and Steller Sea Lions at Race Rocks.
