T’s, R’s, and HB’s!

It’s hard for us not to sound repetitive as we write these…but today was yet ANOTHER day where we spotted transient orcas, resident orcas, and humpbacks whales! The waters surrounding southern Vancouver Island are filled with an abundance of wildlife right now, and the ocean has been gracing us with perfect conditions from morning to night. We caught up with members of J and K resident pods in their usual summer feeding grounds off San Juan Island, while the transients were travelling across Haro Strait, from Sidney to Oak Bay by late afternoon. Skipper Mark’s Zodiac trip witnessed the transient orcas hunting seals, what one passenger described as “the adult parents guiding and demonstrating to the juvenile how to surround and catch the seal”.
