Ocean Magic II Marine Wildlife Adventure Aug 5 9am & 12:15

August 8, 2012

The sun shone, the seas were flat calm as the Ocean Magic headed south out of the harbour. Capt. Gord and our crew of naturalists, Dan and Casey and Jenn provided our guests with a fun filled and educational trip as we encountered some of the wildlife found here on the west coast. It was not long before we spotted Humpback whales, not just one but four. Two in one group and two others on their own. Just an amazing day on the water viewing these magnificent amnimals We then took a tour of Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. Here we took in the sights on the abundant wildlife, Stellar Sea Lions, California Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, Elephant Seals and a variety of birds. What a great trip, once again, full of westcoast wildlife for our international guests.

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
