Our Ocean Magic Marine Wildlife Adventure took us west to find Three Humpback Whales. Our Skipper Jeff put us in perfect position to view these amazing animals. They would raise their flukes high in the air as they took their deep dives. Truly a wonderful sight to witness. Our crew of Casey, Mika and Jen passed along a wealth of information about these gentle giants of the sea and the diverse eco system they call home. Our trip then took us to Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. Here we took in the sights and sounds of Steller Sea Lions, California Sea Lions, Elephant Seals and Harbour Seals. Our Skipper then took us east to San Juan Island. Off this picturesque Island we found Resident Killer Whales. We had a Super Pod, all the members of J, K and L pods. They were headed north along the shoreline, all spread out. Just a wonderful experience to watch these Orca as they rose to the surface, showing their size as the water rolled off their backs. Our guests were all smiles after this great adventure with Prince of Whales!
Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
