Ocean Magic Marine Wildlife Adventure Sept 15

September 23, 2012

Todays Ocean Magic Marine Wildlife Adventures were awesome. Our Skipper Gord slipped the Ocean Magic from Victoria’s Inner Harbour and took us west on the Noon trip to view Transient Killer Whales. We got great views of these apex marine predators as they headed east as they travelled. The 3:30 Ocean Magic took us to these Transients and then on to Resident Orca that had just been spotted off Beecher Bay. We had breeching, spy hops, tail slaps and porpoising and these Orca made their way around Race Rocks. We also took time to tour Race Rocks Ecological reserve and view its abundant population of Stellar and California Sea Lions. This was a day to remember for all our passengers!!

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
