Ocean Magic Wildlife Adventure June 26 12:15

June 29, 2011

Our 12:15 Ocean Magic was set against blue skies, sun and calm seas. Our Skipper Gord took us west to Race Rock Ecological Reserve. Here we took in the sights of Harbour Seals, Elephant Seals and a variety of birds. Our search then took us south and east to San Juan island. Here we caught up member’s of J Pod. These resident killer whales were spread out along San Juan Island. We watched as they Breached, spy hopped, rolled, and fluked. It was yet another exceptional wildlife adventure with Prince of Whales!

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm telephoto lens. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
