Ocean Magic Wildlife Adventure May 14

May 19, 2011

Our Skipper Gord took the Ocean Magic out into sunshine and calm seas. He had us headed west to a report from our Zodiac Skipper Myles “Mountain Man” of Resident Killer Whales near Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. It was not long before Gord put us in a perfect position to view these magnificent Orca. These we members of J Pod, one of three resident souther (salmon eating) Killer Whales Pods. They exhibited breaching, spy hopping, fluke slapping, peck slapping and rolling. We even saw Granny J-Pods Matriarch, she is now 100 years old. Our tour then took us through Race Rocks Ecological Reserve, here we observed Steller Sea Lions, California Sea Lions, Harbour Seals and Bald Eagles. Our run back to Victoria took us past the Killer Whales that were just off Victoria’s picturesque waterfront. Yet another wonderful marine wildlife adventure with Prince of Whales.
