Ocean Magic Wildlife Adventure May 26

May 28, 2011

It was a bright sunny afternoon when the Ocean Magic left the harbour and headed east to Oak Bay Flats where four Transient Orca had been reported. Capt Gord and crew members Mika and Liz positioned the vessel in a great spot where our guests could watch these magnificent Orca hunting for Harbour Seals. Although we didn’t see any remains of the prey item, several gulls flew in to pick up some of the tiny bits that floated on the surface just above the whales. The transient’s were ID as the T 10 family group. The scenic islands of Chatham and Discovery created a great backdrop for the whales as they traveled on their way. Other interesting animals seen were Harbour Seals lounging on rocks and flocks of sea birds flying by, including Surf Scoters. What a great afternoon for wildlife once again.
