It would be another great wildlife adventure shaping up this Saturday here on the west coast. With sunshine forecasted Capt. Dave and our crew of Casey and Jenn headed us out of the harbour and east toward Haro Strait where reports of the Southern Resident Orca, salmon eating whales were traveling north along San Juan Island. They were first sighted offshore of San Juan Island. We found several members of J Pod, working the water for their staple diet of salmon. We even got to see the band new baby in J Pod!! Just amazing to see!! Our time with these charismatic creatures was soon over so we headed back to the harbour. There were several baitballs and hovering gulls, seen on our return. It was another delightful adventure with Prince of Whales!!

Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
