Our Skipper Scotty to us south east to a report of Transient Killer Whales. We observed T186, T185 and the T187’s. These apex marine predators were up for a few breaths and then down for a deep dive, changing direction with each deep dive, keeping us all guessing as to their next rise. Our crew of Mika, Jen and Claire filled our guests with information on the diverse marine eco-system. The Orca would rise from the still water, sending their exhale high in a misty blow. Truly amazing to watch as these killer whales cut through the water. Our trip then took us back along Victoria’s picturesque waterfront. Yet another great adventure with Prince of Whales!
Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
