The 12:15 Ocean Magic Marine Wildlife Adventure took us past Race Rocks and out deep into the Strait Of Juan De Fuca. Here our Capt. Scott put us in excellent position to view a Humpback Whale. this gentle giant was very curious as it would swim on its side looking over at us. It then switched to traveling, heading west into the fog. We watched as it rose with its exhale blowing water high into the air. Such an amazing sight to see. Our trip then took us back through Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. Here our crew of Marine Biologist and First Mate Mika and Naturalist Jen, pointed out all the marine life that was resting on the rocks. We observed Stelar Sea Lions, Harbour Seals and a wealth of marine birds. Yet another great Marine Wildlife Adventure with Prince of Whales!
Most of the images on the blog are shot with a 400 mm & 600 mm telephoto lenses. Because of our restrictions around wildlife (100+ meters), we use powerful lenses to better share orca activity that passengers see on their trips. Keep in mind this also heavily compresses space between objects. We also crop images for best blog viewing.
