FAQS

Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

The boat we use for this tour is equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages on board?

Complementary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

Prince of Whales Whale Watching a Whale of a Time! My whale watching excursion with Prince of Whales surpassed all my expectations. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, well maintained boat and I saw many whales! I had mistakenly booked my excursion for the day I was flying into Vancouver and they graciously allowed me to change the date the day before with no penalty. I highly recommend this company.

Wonderful Whale watching I was hesitant to be gone on an 11 hour day trip, but we had a wonderful time. The time passed quickly, the crew was extremely helpful and friendly, and we really enjoyed ourselves. When whales were spotted, the boat slowed down and we hovered nearby to get a closer look. We would spend over 1/2 hour just getting the opportunity to view and photograph the whales. The layover in Victoria was well organized and we enjoyed seeing Butchart Gardens once again. I highly recommend this trip to anyone.

Best Whale Watching in Vancouver! We went on the half day tour from Granville Island this past Thursday, fortunate to have had Captain Aaron, Wilma, Selena and Olivia as our AMAZING crew! Captain went out of his way to make sure we had a successful day and fortunate to have seen Harbour seals, porpoises and Nike the humpback, and 2 groups of orcas! Wilma was so knowledgeable of the environment, the species and areas we saw along the way. The whole team was passionate and friendly! Don’t look any further, these are the guys you want to go out with! A very big thank you from the NYC Ladies for making our day such a special one.

Humpbacks! Highly recommend the half-day whale watching tour as we were able to see humpback whales as well as Orca’s. I’ve always wanted to see humpbacks up close, and wasn’t able to see them on the last tour I took a few years ago out of Seattle. Luckily, on the way back to port we were able to see them feeding, and breaching!

Roya was an excellent guide. Being a marine biologist, she was professional and quite knowledgeable about the local marine ecosystem, and just about marine biology in general. It was nice that she made sure to speak to everyone on board, and was available to answer any questions that we had. Thanks to the entire crew for an amazing trip, well worth it!

Wonderful day out! Prince of Whales is BRILLIANT! I enjoyed the half day tour on Monday 30th September, from the start when James introduced himself and the crew you knew you were in for an educational and fun day out with the team. All of the crew were extremely professional and passionate about what they do. Inclusions like the free hot drinks, informative commentary and facts regarding the whales all combine to make a memorable experience. James, Camille and Amy are super knowledgeable and great at their jobs. We saw two Humpback whales (mum & calf) not far out of Vancouver Habour and conveniently positioned with Howe Sound in the background!
Captain Anthony had reports of Orca sightings and safely guided the vessel to ensure we all had the opportunity to enjoy viewing these amazing creatures of the ocean in the wild. This was a long held dream for me to experience,my day out with Prince of Whales was made memorable for so many reasons and will cherish. I can highly recommend Prince of Whales to anyone visiting Vancouver for their whale experience.

SO Many Whales! What an amazing trip! Staff were super knowledgeable about all of the marine life and did a wonderful job ensuring everyone on board was taken care of. We had Lily, Shawnee and Valerie telling us all about the whales we saw and their enthusiasm about it made me that much more excited to see the whales too. They all did a tremendous job ensuring that the boat was constantly being cleaned for covid measures as well. We were provided with a really cool whale buff as a face covering if we didn't have one with us. I am more than impressed with my time out whale watching and hope to one day return for more! Keep up the awesome work :D
