1. OVERVIEW

Prince of Whales Whales Watching & Sea Vancouver (“Inter Island Launch Ltd.”) is committed to protecting your privacy. Inter Island Launch Ltd. collects, uses, and discloses your personal information in accordance with privacy laws and any other applicable legislation.

Inter Island Launch Ltd. also collects other types of information, including employee personal information, the terms and conditions of which are covered by another Privacy Policy. This privacy statement relates to the information collected from you as a result of your visit to the Sites. This statement supplements Inter Island Launch Ltd. other privacy procedures and practices. By visiting and continuing to use the Sites, you acknowledge the notices in this policy and consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this policy.

3. COLLECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

A. PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE

Inter Island Launch Ltd. will collect personal information through the Sites when you voluntarily provide it. Examples include when you complete the “Contact Us” form on the Sites or place an order. We collect the personal information to provide you with the information or service that you have requested.

During your use of the Sites, you may be asked to provide personal information such as your name, e-mail address, mailing address, telephone number, account login, credit card information, and password information. At that time, you may choose not to provide certain requested personal information, but this may affect your ability to use certain services provided by Inter Island Launch Ltd. or access or use certain sections of the Site.

Inter Island Launch Ltd. may collect your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to contact and correspond with you regarding the Sites, and services offered by Inter Island Launch Ltd. including special events;

B. AUTOMATICALLY GATHERED PERSONAL INFORMATION

(A) WEBSITE VISITS

Inter Island Launch Ltd. websites automatically collect the following non-personally identifiable information from visitors to the website:

  • the web browser and operating system you are using;
  • the date and time of the visit;
  • the sections of the Site you visit, as well as the pages read and the images viewed;
  • certain content that you download from the Sites;
  • if you were on another website before visiting the Sites, the URL (web address) of that previous website, if it referred you to the Sites;
  • the URL of the first website you visit immediately upon leaving the Sites, if you were referred to that website by the Sites;
  • the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; and
  • the IP address of your Internet Service Provider.

We do not link any of the above information with information that is personally identifiable to you. We collect this data in an aggregate format for a number of reasons, including to understand the traffic on our website, how it is used, and how we can improve it. For example, the information about our visitors’ browsers tells us what kind of browsers we need to support. Other information lets us know how many visitors come to our site and what sections are the most popular. We do not share this aggregate data with third parties.

(B) COOKIES

The Site uses “cookies”. Cookies enable our website to save and retrieve information that you enter. A cookie is a commonly used piece of software that tracks your website visits and preferences, and is capable of enhancing your visit to the sites. It may remain on your computer after the Internet session finishes (until the cookie expires or is deleted by you).

If you do not want to accept cookies, you can disable them by adjusting the settings on your internet browser. Your decision to disable cookies may impair your ability to browse, read, and download information contained on the Site, and Inter Island Launch Ltd. may be unable to personalize your web experience. (C) WEB ANALYTICS

The Sites use web analytics tools to help analyze how the Sites are used and to improve visitors’ online experience. These tools work by tagging web pages to capture a limited amount of data (including the IP address of the computer, device, or network being used to access the pages). This data is used for aggregate reporting purposes. None of this data is used by Inter Island Launch Ltd. or its service providers to identify you.

The Sites also uses remarketing tools, such as Google’s Ads remarketing (“Ads”). Ads connects the activity of Inter Island Launch Ltd. with the Ads advertising network and the DoubleClick Cookie. Inter Island Launch Ltd. displays interest-based advertising on third-party websites using information you make available to us when you interact with our website, content, or services. If you do not wish to receive this type of advertising from us in the future you can opt out using the DoubleClick opt-out page (https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb#display_optout) or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page (http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp).

We also use the “visitor action pixels” from Facebook Inc. (1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or, if you are based in the EU, Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”)) on our website.

This allows user behavior to be tracked after they have been redirected to the provider’s website by clicking on a Facebook ad. This enables us to measure the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. The data collected in this way is anonymous to us, i.e. we do not see the personal data of individual users. However, this data is stored and processed by Facebook, which is why we are informing you, based on our knowledge of the situation. Facebook may link this information to your Facebook account and also use it for its own promotional purposes, in accordance with Facebook’s Data Usage Policy https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. You can allow Facebook and its partners to place ads on and off Facebook. A cookie may also be stored on your computer for these purposes.

4. USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal information will only be used to fulfill the purpose for which it was originally collected, or for a use consistent with that purpose, unless you expressly consent otherwise.

Generally, the information we use relates directly to the provision of sightseeing services and the purpose for which you have provided it to Inter Island Launch Ltd. We use information from the Sites to respond to specific requests from you, to process suggestions and comments provided by you, to otherwise administer your relationship with Inter Island Launch Ltd. (including contacting you about tours or other matters), and to facilitate such other services and activities as we may identify at the time. Inter Island Launch Ltd. also collects information about its Sites and the information and services on it to better understand general user trends at an aggregate level, to promote and improve its services, and to assess web performance, web services, and for website maintenance. With the exception of our third-party service providers, Inter Island Launch Ltd. will only share your personal information outside Inter Island Launch Ltd. with your consent, or where we use it to provide you with products and services you request. For example, when it is required to provide you with the information or services you have requested, in which case we will consider you to have given implied consent (e.g., confirmation of a whale watching tour). The third-party service providers will have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but are only provided the limited amount of information required to perform their services.

Inter Island Launch Ltd. uses third party service providers for the purpose of sending out certain electronic communications. Currently, these providers include Zaui Software and Infusionsoft. In using these services, Inter Island Launch Ltd. will provide these service providers with personal information such as your name and email address.

Infusionsoft is a service located outside of Canada, which means that your personal information may be subject to being stored and accessed pursuant to the laws of the United States of America. If you have any questions about Inter Island Launch Ltd. policies and practices with respect to service providers outside of Canada, including their collection, use, disclosure, and storage of personal information, you can contact the Inter Island Launch Ltd. When Inter Island Launch Ltd. uses third party service providers, it requires the providers to protect your personal information in accordance with the law and with the same or more stringent security and privacy standards than Inter Island Launch Ltd. Any such disclosure of your personal information by Inter Island Launch Ltd. to a third-party service provider will be conditional upon the information being used solely for the purpose for which it has been disclosed.

Inter Island Launch Ltd. may also disclose your personal information where authorized or required by law. For example, we may disclose your personal information to comply with a subpoena, in response to a law enforcement body with the lawful authority to obtain the information, pursuant to an investigation into the breach of a law, or to our legal counsel.
