Transient Orca Sea Lion Hunt Unbelievable day on the water. My new Bride Beth and I got into Victoria the night before for our honeymoon. We are both water lovers from Florida, so this trip was a natural fit for us. We meandered the docks and ended up running just a few minutes behind our noon start time. The Prince of Whales staff called to make sure we would be making the journey for a half day watch. We ran to the dock and just made the boat before departure. SO GLAD WE MADE IT.
We were treated to an Orca hunt and kill of a sea lion in the Haro Straight just beyond Discovery Island. It was a transient Orca pod that the crew was very familiar with. We witnessed (from a respectable distance) the hunt and the Orca's eating and "celebrating" their shared meal afterwards. Amazing to say the least. Lasted over an hour without having to move the boat more than a few meters here and there. Seeing a huge male Orca dorsal fin come out of the water is unbelievable. Then seeing the interactions of the different members of the pod was amazing as well. The youngsters were so excited by the kill that they were breaching completely out of the water multiple times. The pics we have are fantastic. (New background on phone of course)
The crew was very knowledgable with Lilli narrating the action as we watched it unfold on the upper deck. She answered any and all questions as they were asked. I had a bunch of questions and she was very knowledgable of all aspects of the natural wonders that we were witnessing. It was great that the crew shared their excitement at this somewhat rare event.
The rest of the trip was interesting as well. Witnessing and learning about the biology of the region and the sea lions, seals, bald eagles, harbor dolphin, and other assorted wildlife was fantastic.
Would highly recommend Prince of Whales adventures as a MUST DO if you are in Victoria or anywhere with access to these beautiful waters.

Blown away at the variety & amount of whale sightings The team on my tour were all highly professional to passengers and all marine life throughout our adventure-tour. Their "cetology" knowledge was far and beyond anything I had experienced. Lili was particularly forthcoming with global and localised information about the differing whale species and in particular the transient Orca's and hump back whales in Victoria that day. This whale watching tour is top of the line: highly professional and well humored crew, a good amount of whale action to see and an excellent modern vessel. Such a life changing experience - don't miss out!

Up close whale encounter Small boat more personal, quicker & easier to manoeuvre to follow whales as they hunt for fish. Our Guide/ Driver, Joe was very polite, considerate & knowledgeable. He tried to get as as close as he was allowed to the whales after spotting them, stopping the boat so they might swim towards us. We were lucky enough to see a group of about 6 orcas that were local to that area. In saying that they travel quite a distance so may only be seen every few weeks, especially in the winter. We also saw a couple of eagles, sea lions & sea otters, however the orcas were definitely the highlight... so beautiful to see them in the wild. More exciting than on a big boat with a lot of people, although cold we were given waterproof jumpsuits, beanies & gloves & told to dress warm. Perfect end to our Canadian Holiday.

BEST DAY OF THE SEASON! We saw so much wild life that day... massive sea lions languishing and squabbling on a favorite ocean rock, eagles feeding, seals, countless orcas and humpback whales, school of dolphins. It was a gorgeous, sunny and crisp day in Vancouver--even snow capped Mt Baker was visible in the distance. We were told by the crew that it was the best day of the season for sea life. I'm not out there every day so I will take their word for it. Personally it was a highlight of a lifetime. The captain and crew were fantastic! And a special shout out to naturalist and crew member Wilma Fuchs, whose knowledge and enthusiasm made the day over the top EXTRA special! I highly recommend this adventure to everyone, locals and travellers!

Excellent whale watching trip from Victoria Great experience whale watching with Prince of Whales. We saw a family of transient orcas and sea lions! Our naturalist, Valerie, was awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable and made the trip a memory to last a lifetime. Check in was quick and easy. Good communication in advance of the trip. If you’re headed out around noon, suggest eating beforehand or packing snacks.

Ultimate Day Trip This was the most fun I've had in I don't know how long! The vessel was comfortable and had plenty of viewing areas. When we set out, it didn't take us long to find whales. In fact we found a whole pod of Orcas! We saw adults and their young, sometimes surfacing 3 and 4 at a time. We got to watch them for a whole hour, and at one point, they came up right next to the boat! The tour guides said this hardly ever happens, so this was a special day for us. After that, we continued on and saw some seals and a bald eagle! It was huge! The scenery was amazing on the way. When we got to Victoria, they dropped us off right in front of the Empress Hotel. We had free time in the city and then we took a bus to Butchart Gardens, seeing many interesting sights along the way. The gardens themselves were very beautiful with many flowers I had never seen before. Then we left for home from a dock right at the gardens. Very convenient! We took a different route home and saw more wonderful scenery. It was a perfect day and I plan to encourage all my friends and coworkers to take the trip.

Half Day Whale Watching Went out on the Salish Sea today through Boundary Pass with Captain Joe, Lilli ana Valerie. We were blessed with T86As, T101s, and T124As hunting Sea Lions. T86A also had a calf approx 1yr old, and was outta control with excitement 😆 My partner happily took around 800 photos on her DSLR from a safe distance of 200+ meters away. Wished we could have taken more, but am beyond stoked with the ones we got. This is the only acceptable way to view sea life - in the wild where they belong.
