Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

When is the best time of day for watching whales?

There really is no better time of day for whale sightings, as the whales do not run on a schedule as we do! The whales are active throughout the day and their behaviour changes as groups encounter each other. If you are looking for the best scenic light for photography choose morning departure.

Are there bathrooms on the Zodiacs?

No, the RHIBs are open-air boats, and therefore do not have washrooms on board. We recommend that you use the public washrooms (located next to our office) before your departure.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages available on board the Catamarans?

Yes! Complimentary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies and chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.
Please not because of COVID light snacks will not be available.

Can I bring a camera on a Zodiac?

Yes! Bring your camera and/or video camera to capture the experience. We also recommend that you bring a plastic bag or other waterproof case to keep your camera safe and dry during transit. The boat will come to a complete stop for photo opportunities.

Are Zodiac adventures safe?

Yes, all of our captains and boats are certified by Transport Canada. Zodiacs move fast but are very stable. There will be no 360-degree turns on this tour. These adventures are designed for fast sightseeing and not a thrill park ride.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

Fantastic! Having booked this whale watching trip, we can honestly say that it was an experience of a lifetime. We were so lucky to have had such perfect ‘viewing’ conditions and having ridden out into the Straights of Georgia for about 50 minutes, not one but two Orca pods were sighted. We followed and shadowed the pods at a respectful distance until one of them came directly under our boat following a ‘kill’. The unfortunate victim was a porpoise.
Nature can be brutal but that’s how it is and can’t be sugar coated.
Everyone on board was glued to the sea for the whole trip. The guides were knowledgable and extremely passionate about the subject of whales and marine life in general.
Thank you to you all for making this trip such an unforgettable one.

Whales & so much more First thanks to Aurora who was an excellent tour guide and was excellent with the children. They've remembered so much she said!

A great trip, well organized. We saw a whale many times then headed towards Vancouver island to see seals, sealions and bald eagles. What a treat!

We were at the end of the queue getting on so ended up downstairs behind the glass at the front which was disappointing. However this was lucky as we didn't get blown around so much as those outside. The first hour-ish was zooming along getting to the desired location. So outside people were getting sprayed, etc.

Such a fun experience! Prince of Whales was such a fun experience! We booked the excursion the day prior as they still had just a couple spots left. The location was pretty easy to find where we all met. The guides were great - and a special shout out to Aurora! It rained for the first hour on the boat, which could have easily made the experience less exciting. But Aurora kept the group upbeat with her pure love of her job and of whales. She shared so many interesting facts that she kept us all engaged and helped us forget about the weather. Once we finally spotted 2 pods, we actually got to see them breach out of the water and even during feeding time! It was an amazing experience and I'd highly recommend booking the Prince of Whales for your whale watching trip!

Best day out! I can’t rate the crew of Prince of whales more highly. I had such a fantastic day out that I booked to go out again for a second time two weeks later. The first time we seen plenty of humpback whales but Aaron still wanted to take us all to look for other whales/seals which was appreciated. The second time the water was quite rough but once again Aaron sailed us to where we needed to be safely. The crew has plenty of knowledge on the area and the wildlife. Wilma pointed out plenty of things which were very interesting. I can’t thank the crew enough for such an amazing day out both times, the trip is great value for money and I’ll definitely like to book again if I visit Vancouver again.

Fantastic day So much fun we saw humpbacks, orcas, sea lions, a bald eagle, porpoise, and a blue heron.

Weather was beautiful and the scenery was just gorgeous.

James (our lead naturist) and the entire crew (especially the first mate) on Oct 1 were just phenomenal - educating us about whales and identifying the whales by their names.

This trip alone makes returning to Vancouver from Texas worth it (the Texas heat this year is added encouragement).

Learnt so much in a beautiful part of the world Went out on the whale watching tour this week with rebecca and chris and had a fantastic time. They were all so knowledgable, really keen to teach us about the conservation programmes and had years of experience. You could literally ask them anything! We were in a quite a small group which was lovely. Telegraph cove is a beautiful part of the world! Tea and coffee on board was a lovely touch. Thanks guys!

Ultimate Day Tour to Victoria We, a party of three adults from the UK, travelled on the Ultimate Day Tour to Victoria on 3rd September. Our crew of Anthony, Sandy, James and Amy were absolutely fantastic and so knowledgeable about the wildlife and local area! We were lucky to enough to see four humpback whales, five orcas, a bald eagle and harbour seals. This is a must do trip if you are in Vancouver! Victoria is a lovely place to visit and if we were to do it again we would stay a night there and the Butchart Gardens are also beautiful! If we could give this trip six stars we would - the crew, scenery and wildlife were all amazing!

Ask for captain Jasper! We went out a few weeks ago and are still buzzing. One thing is for sure. You need to ask for Jasper as your guide. We went out back in July with another captain and had a good time, saw whales and thought we would go again. We lucked out this time. Jasper looks super young but is a skilled boat handler with vast knowledge of the the area and a very professional attitude. We stopped every 15 mins along the way and checked out everything from scooping up and touching small jelly fish and eating kelp to drifting through small unpopulated islands looking for seals. We even talked to a fisherman Jasper knew and got to see his salmon fish! When we saw whales we stayed long enough for Jasper to teach us about them before moving on and finding even more. We saw at least 10 humpbacks in a 3 hour span. There were some young kids on board who weren’t as interested in the whales as the rest of us so Jasper took them back to the helm and taught them some knots and showed them some whale models so their parents could enjoy some time to themselves. It was all those small things Jasper did for us to highten our enjoyment which made this one of the best activities my partner and I have done while traveling. In total we saw humpbacks, seals, sea lions and so much more. It’s worth the money!
