Beautiful trip, learned so much We had a great time whale watching. Be aware it is cold out on the boat even if it warm in Victoria. However we were offered hats, gloves and blankets as well as free hot drinks during the trip. We followed along side a family of orcas for about 45 minutes. Then we saw harbor seals, sea lions and elephant seals. The best part of the trip was the crew who taught us so Much about the sea life here in Victoria. Naturalist Rory was especially helpful.

An Amazing Experience My wife and I had the good fortune to travel with the Prince of Whales on an unforgettable excursion. We saw three families of Orcas and watched them for quite some time. It was incredible.
We’d like to compliment the desk staff and the crew. Everyone was friendly, professional and well informed. I didn’t catch everyone’s names, but many thanks to Cpt Joe, Rory for sending the pictures and Shawnee (sp?) our guide who was so enthusiastic and knowledgable and all the rest of the crew who were all great.

Amazing whale watching experience. When we went whale watching we saw humpback whales and killer whales. Both James and Amy, the naturalists on the boat, gave some great facts and insight into the animals we saw but also the areas that we travelled through to get to Victoria. It was, overall, an amazing trip!

Blew my expectations out of the water I realise that what I'm about to write is a very rare and privileged experience!

We boarded for the half day whaling trip and my hope's and expectations were to be able to watch a humpback in the distance and my dreams would come true.

We certainly did find a lone humpback which we watched from the distance but he decided that he was interested in the boat so decided to come over and say hello. He circled around the boat for a good 20 minutes, giving us all a very close encounter. This is definitely something I shall never forget.

The crew were great, Tom stayed with us on the back of the boat and was very knowledgeable regarding the whales. We also managed to identify him afterwards from their catalogue as 'windy'. Which was quite apt as he decided to roll over and do a very stinky poop next to the boat.

We also saw an orca pod in the distance, harbour whales and seals.

I would definitely recommend this company.

Wonderful! One of the highlights of our trip! They have a 100% whale sighting guarantee which is nice, but the 1/2 day trip is lovely in itself. Of course, the absolute highlight was seeing a whole pod of Orcas (though they didn't breach)! They are amazing. Lovely company to book your trip with, as well--staff are very friendly and helpful and the price is reasonable

Prince of Whales Managed to get onto last trip for the season with the crew and what a day! Sunshine, calm seas, mirror like surface and whales! Saw at least 6 up close and others in the distance, saw Harbour Seals and sea lions, and a juvenile bald eagle! The staff on board were all very passionate about their job and were able to tell some great info about the whales, seals and sea lions. A great afternoon out, we were so lucky being the first week of November but it was great!

Awesome Great trip. Crew were friendly helpful and informative. We saw some humpback which was awesome and then they got a call that there was a chance of orcas so they said this will make us late back so do you still want to go see? Everyone on the boat said yes so we went and we saw orcas and it was amazing. Even the crew were excited. Great trip and worth every cent.

Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

When is the best time of day for watching whales?

There really is no better time of day for whale sightings, as the whales do not run on a schedule as we do! The whales are active throughout the day and their behaviour changes as groups encounter each other. If you are looking for the best scenic light for photography choose morning departure.

Are there bathrooms on the Zodiacs?

No, the RHIBs are open-air boats, and therefore do not have washrooms on board. We recommend that you use the public washrooms (located next to our office) before your departure.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages available on board the Catamarans?

Yes! Complimentary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies and chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Can I bring a camera on a Zodiac?

Yes! Bring your camera and/or video camera to capture the experience. We also recommend that you bring a plastic bag or other waterproof case to keep your camera safe and dry during transit. The boat will come to a complete stop for photo opportunities.

Are Zodiac adventures safe?

Yes, all of our captains and boats are certified by Transport Canada. Zodiacs move fast but are very stable. There will be no 360-degree turns on this tour. These adventures are designed for fast sightseeing and not a thrill park ride.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.
