Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

When is the best time of day for watching whales?

There really is no better time of day for whale sightings, as the whales do not run on a schedule as we do! The whales are active throughout the day and their behaviour changes as groups encounter each other. If you are looking for the best scenic light for photography choose morning departure.

Are there bathrooms on the Zodiacs?

No, the RHIBs are open-air boats, and therefore do not have washrooms on board. We recommend that you use the public washrooms (located next to our office) before your departure.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages available on board the Catamarans?

Yes! Complimentary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies and chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Can I bring a camera on a Zodiac?

Yes! Bring your camera and/or video camera to capture the experience. We also recommend that you bring a plastic bag or other waterproof case to keep your camera safe and dry during transit. The boat will come to a complete stop for photo opportunities.

Are Zodiac adventures safe?

Yes, all of our captains and boats are certified by Transport Canada. Zodiacs move fast but are very stable. There will be no 360-degree turns on this tour. These adventures are designed for fast sightseeing and not a thrill park ride.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

Whale watching Had a brilliant day once we found the office in the harbour. Very knowlageble crew, very fast comfortable boat. Saw orcas, seals, bald headed eagles, only 1 humpback a long way away. Altogether a fantastic experience.

Comfortable and convenient We did the combination whale watching/Buchert Garden tour. The boat was very clean and comfortable. It was a cool, rainy misty day so it had great accommodations for conditions. Staff was knowledgeable and more than happy to meet any need. We saw humpback whales although no orcas. The ride would have been much more enjoyable as far as scenery had the weather cooperated. Easy transfer to the Gatdens with tickets in hand. The gardens were amazing and it was easy to transfer to bus for ride back to Inner Harbor. They offer the Zodiac boat option and we didn’t know which one to do but given the temp and rain, glad we chose the catamaran.

Excellent trip with very knowledgeable guides We had a great morning on the boat, and saw humpback whales, bald eagles, seals and sea lions. The knowledge and information that the guides had was great.
The boat was well equipped with toilets and refreshments.
Layering up with clothing is recommended as the wind on the ocean can be a bit chilly.

Great first experience Great first whale watching experience! The crew was not only very experienced and knowledgeable but super excited to educate the passengers. You can tell they really love what they do.They also took great care of my friend who was feeling slightly nervous about the outing and made sure she was comfortable and informed the whole time.

I especially appreciated how respectful the crew was of the animals we were observing. They explained all of the protocols we were following, why they were in place and are also invested in conservation efforts.

Such a great experience- I will be back for sure!

Very cool! Great experience! Saw lots of Humpback whales, which the guides can identify by their tails and have names for them! We also saw sea lions and seals. It gets pretty windy so dress accordingly. Staff were super knowledgeable about Vancouver area and the various animals that live near the shores. Went with my 11 year old daughter - she was whaled our by 4 hours so she read a book. I would highly recommend this tour and company!

Great Time! We went on the early morning trip on Saturday July 27 and were totally impressed by the whole crew. We took the catamaran because we're not spring chickens anymore! It was very comfortable even in the choppy waters that day. The captain Chris seemed to know where to go and sure enough he got us to the whales right away. They were humpback and at one point they came to us about 20' from the boat. At no time did the captain take us too close to them, he really obeyed the rules and showed the whales great respect, which I really appreciated. I know some outfits will try and get too close just to impress their guests, and I have no respect for that at all. The first mate Joe was very friendly and handled the boat very well. The company hires extra staff for interpreting and informing us about the ocean and the whales. Ours was Rory, a biology major from UVic. What an informed and helpful young man. He really knew his whales, could identify them individually, and answered any and all questions. We were very lucky to see a humpback breach 5 times, which is quite rare I believe, and he was as excited as we were. His enthusiasm was infectious and he couldn't have been more helpful. This is one aspect of their tour that I really like. Having an expert on board enhances the experience tremendously. Would highly recommend this company.

Just Amazing!!! We saw so many whales. Mark the captain was great at finding them for us. We saw both resident and transient orcas, as well as many humpbacks. Just a perfect morning. Thank you!
