FAQS

Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

The boat we use for this tour is equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages on board?

Complementary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

Amazing whale watching experience. When we went whale watching we saw humpback whales and killer whales. Both James and Amy, the naturalists on the boat, gave some great facts and insight into the animals we saw but also the areas that we travelled through to get to Victoria. It was, overall, an amazing trip!

Amazing experience! Prince of whales is amazing! From the professionalism of the crew to the free hot drinks on board, they went above and beyond to make our whale watching experience so memorable. James is super knowledgeable and great at his job. We saw so many humpbacks and other wildlife, it was awesome! Anthony the captain really knew where to go for whales and took his time turning the boat around to make sure we could get the best views of the whales. Unforgettable experience!

AWESOME experience!!! Highly recommend!!! Had an absolutely wonderful afternoon. The staff are awesome - so passionate and knowledgeable and it really shows and makes for an awesome and memorable experience. The crew members - Lili, Seanie and Laura(?) are rockstars of the ocean! They truly made the experience that much better - Very friendly and informative - I learned so much on our tour! We were fortunate to see both transient and resident orcas. At one point we were surrounded by humpbacks!! Absolutely incredible!! Even the staff were excited! The vessel was comfortable and it was such as nice touch to offer complimentary teas and coffees. I have done the tour with other companies and would not hesitate to recommend Prince of Wales. It is worth every penny for a wonderful day on the water and awesome experience!

Whales and a MAYDAY response We just did the afternoon whale and wildlife trip on Friday. Staff were great. Both my husband and I are in our 70s and have mobility issues. They helped us on and off their boat, the best seats on the boat, and even got us to a spot where we could catch a cab-not an easy task if you don’t know your way around Granbury Island. We saw tons of whales, humpback and Orca, one humpback even breached. They crew and boat responded to a MAYDAY too and did it quickly and professionally. Worth every penny! Just wish they did some hotel pickup and returns. We would have willingly paid extra for it.
