FAQS

Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

The boat we use for this tour is equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages on board?

Complementary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

Incredible experience ! We had an incredible time with Prince of Whales. We did the tour on Monday 30th. The crew members were truly passionate and really nice, we had the opportunity to hear the experience and the knowledge of each naturalist (James, Camille Amy). During the tour, we saw two humpback whales, a male orca swimming on his own and then a pod of six orcas! They were hunting and then kind of making funny moves. The captain (Ian) was really respectful regarding the distance put between the boat and the animal. It was really sunny, and also, good to know : you can have as many coffees, teas or hot chocolates as you want!
I highly recommend Prince of Whales.

Excellent way to spend an afternoon We are a family of five visiting Victoria for a day and decided to go whale watching despite the weather not being great but we are always up for an adventure. Booking made with ease and came back at trip time to get suited up. We did the Zodiac trip even though it had been raining all morning! Thankfully the rain eased off for our trip. Mark was our captain and he tried his best to locate some whales for us but unfortunately on this occasion they were in hiding so we’ll just have to come back to Canada again. Overall it was a great trip and would recommend it.

Great time We had a beautiful ride over to the Vancouver Island vicinity and spent an hour watching a pod of killer whales. Could have watched them all day! Simply spectacular.

Whales Feeding Excellent - Willma particularly - saw may whales today, including several actually feeding. A bit cold, so do take plenty of layers, but well worth the trip.

Whale watching Fantastisch, we hadden het geluk om op 2 verschillende plekken totaal 10 walvissen te spotten. Uitzonderlijk. Het enthousiasme van de medewerkers werkt aanstekelijk. Super leuke dag gehad.

Wow what a whale watching trip! Whale watching was brilliant. The captain Aron took us to all the right places and Wilma was very informative and a great guide. We saw so many whales including hump backs and orcas we even went to an island where we saw really cute seals. The whales even started breeching. Blankets and free hot chocolate tea and coffee included too! What a trip.

OUTSTANDING TIME! Crew were all very passionate about us having a great experience. Weather was cold and rainy to start, and they did everything in their power to keep everyone comfortable. Went the extra mile to try to get us to see whales - with success! It was literally a dream come true for me. If I ever have the opportunity to visit the area again, I'd definitely sign up with them for another tour. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

AMAZING! We had Rush as our Guide and he explained us everything! He was really entertaining and seemed to know the places because we always told the other Boats where we are, because we always had the first look on Orcas and other Animals!!!

A great time I don’t know if we were just lucky or this is common but we saw 6 different whale pods, 3 killer whale pods and 3 humpback whale pods. They were about 200 meters from the boat. One of the killer whale pods had a 12 month old whale. The guides were informative and kept up an interesting monologue about the whales throughout the entire trip. We have been on a number of whale watching trips in Norway and Iceland but this was the best.
