Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Orca spotting We went on a half day whale watching tour from Victoria on 1 June 2019. It was an amazing day as we saw a transient pod of orca's socialising for about an hour. This was after they had lunch 😂
We got some brilliant photos. The crew Rory and Val were excellent. They gave us a lot of valuable information regarding the pod of Orcas and could not have been more helpful. Brilliant trip.
P.S. we also saw bald Eagles on the way back 👍👍👍

Unforgettable experience! I will remember this trip for the rest of my life! We took Half Day Whale Watching on Ocean Magic and Wilma was absolutely mesmerizing ! She knew so much and it was so friendly, making sure we get the best out of this trip. Also, thanks to Captain and the rest of the crew.

We saw Humpback Whale,Orca family, Bald Eagle (several) Sea Lions, beautiful coast and scenery. We came back home and haven't stoped talking about this experience. We highly recommend it and we will be back! Again, thank you so much!

Great Experience Although at first I was sceptical whether the catamaran of Prince of Whales would be such a fantastic experience as the Zodiacs, I was told better: We were able to follow four orcas over long distances for more than half an hour, got very close to the rocks with sea lions, seals and a sea otter and on the way back our captain actually managed to find a grey whale. The three guides provided us again and again with comprehensive information.

fantastic trip, enthusiastic staff My friend and I were staying in Victoria for a couple of days - May 1st and 2nd and decided to go whale watching at the last minute. We were so glad we did as we really enjoyed the trip - seeing two pods of transient whales. The crew were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made the trip very memorable. Rory took some amazing photos and was kind enough to email these to us as our cameras were not quite up to the task!!!!

A truly West Coast Experience Although the lone humpback we spotted had other plans then spending time with us, our time with Capt. Joe, Lilly and Lauren was well spent. Their excitement at spotting the first humpback of the season was contagious and left us with a better understanding of these wild creatures. It was a beautiful afternoon with the Olympic Mountains rising from the mists, the sun on the water and the noisy smelly crowd soaking up the sun at Race Rocks.

Whale watching ultimate day tour An absolutely amazing experience. The crew were very knowledgeable and helpful and made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our day. We saw several humpback whales, orcas and seals as well as some breathtaking scenery. The day includes some time in Victoria and Butchart Gardens. Butchart gardens were very impressive but a little spoiled by the selfie stick carrying brigade. Overall I recommend Prince of Whales without reservation and would definitely whale watch with them again.

Half day whale watch tour This tour far exceeded my expectations. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of some whales, but about an hour in we came upon a small pod and got to watch them for about an hour. Our guide stayed on the upper deck with us and explained the behaviors they were exhibiting. She was extremely knowledgeable and familiar with this particular group of whales. We also saw sea lions and a bald eagle. There was an enclosed cabin in case of inclement weather which looked warm and inviting.

Amazing experience for us first-timers I've always wanted to go whale watching so it was a must when we arrived in Victoria. I didn't know how to choose a reputable company so I did the usual: compared prices, reviews, locations and then just picked one. I have to say the location of being from the info centre and the fall "flash sales" were the initial reasons to choose this company, but then I thought it was interesting that they would guarantee seeing whales or your money back. I thought even if we didn't see whales we'd get a fun boat ride and possibly another offer to try again. I wasn't worried either way. So off we went. The purchasing online was easy and the information delivery was clear. Check in was friendly and smooth. I was expecting to be cold, and it was a bit our on the water, but overall I was very comfortable even though the sun was only out for about an hour. It was overcast the rest of the day, but that did not take anything away from the experience. From the introductions of the crew, the safety talk at the start to concierge service and staff on hands to connastntly interact and provide information and answers, I felt taken care of the entire time. We saw tons of animals from whales to seals to a single resident otter. The animals were of course the highlight, but the surprising part was the sheer information and education put forth. You can tell these guys have taken the time to really hone this product from the heart. I can't compare as I've never been on another tour like this, but I recommend this company with complete confidence. Well done crew! Special thanks to Shawnee, Bill and Jo, and oh man I wish I could remember the other crew members names as they were all great!
