Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

The boat we use for this tour is equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Windy The Whale I had the good fortune too experience The Prince of Whales your company on my very first visit to Vancouver on Sept 16, 2019. I cannot day enough about the staff on Granville Island and on the boat. Knowledgeable, helpful, passionate, enthusiastic, friendly, and so accommodating are a few things I would start with. It did help we had fabulous weather and a very calm day on the water that made seeing anything so much easier. My cousin and I managed to see 4 harbour proposes, seals, sea lions and the bucket list moment of the day was the very friendly and playful Windy the Humpback whale that just wanted to stay and play! We discovered the whale’s name as Tom (tour guide) looked it up on the whale catalogue that is now being kept to track the whales. Our experience was nothing short of magic. She would go from side to side of the boat so everyone could see her, piping her head out to take a peak and then waving her beautiful tail and pectoral fins at us! We were in heaven! She blew from blowhole when emerging with beautiful grunts. For her best trick she began to roll and surprised us all including the crew by unleashing a whale of a poo! It was fantastic! Hilarious and fantastic, not something any of us expected to see, but we’re delighted with the hilarity and her obvious comfort with her audience. Sadly she swam off and we were delighted with our meeting. Then she came back for more!! The little showoff or perhaps just enjoying the company she stayed again for s good half hour. Feeling blessed we thought we were heading back but no, off to see sea lions who majestically posed for our cameras then some lazy daisy seals who barely lifted their their sleepy heads form their afternoon nap in the sun to see us!
All in all it was a dreamy 5 hours on the Straight of Georgia with my darling cousin and the sun shining down on us.
The crew of Ian, Wilma, Tom & Roya we’re just the icing on the cake as they were as excited as we were to be there and they do this everyday!!!
If you are on Vancouver and you find yourself wondering what to do, you have a problem! If you do have said problem go to see the mariners are Prince Of Whales tours and they will solve your problem. You are doing yourself an injustice by not going. Dress warmly even if it is sunny! The trip back at 7 pm in the evening was a wee bit chilly. They do offer a complimentary tea or hot chocolate which is wonderful but you will need more than that to be comfortable on the way back. I did the afternoon half day tour and loved it! Worth every penny and then some.

Saw humpback whale and three groups
of transient killer whales. One group made
a kill when we were watching them. Couldn’t get much better. Porpoises and seals and sea lions on the way back to harbour. Great morning out.

Fantastic Excursion - Highlight of Our Trip to Vancouver. It was the first time we had seen whales in the wild. Wilma's detailed description of the whales' biology, behavior and history was fantastic. Her enthusiastic commentary enriched the entire experience. Don't miss this trip. It is worth every penny!

Superb cruise and well run Our captain was Craig and our upper deck guide Craig, with the other members of the team on the lower deck. We were fortunate to have good weather, and were thrilled when we saw our first whale sighting. With Craig’s help we identified the first whale that waved its tail our way, and then the others, which popped up ubiquitously around us, sometimes quite close.
The team then took us to see sea lions, seals, bald eagles and oyster catchers, and we were oriented as to where we were at all times, which was very interesting.
We had a lovely cruise despite not seeing Orcas, but its rare to have everything! Great trip.

Great Experience Although at first I was sceptical whether the catamaran of Prince of Whales would be such a fantastic experience as the Zodiacs, I was told better: We were able to follow four orcas over long distances for more than half an hour, got very close to the rocks with sea lions, seals and a sea otter and on the way back our captain actually managed to find a grey whale. The three guides provided us again and again with comprehensive information.
