As we approach Earth Day and Earth Month in 2023, Prince of Whales is proud to celebrate our love for nature and commitment to protecting the planet. Our company has always been dedicated to offering eco-friendly and sustainable whale watching tours, with a focus on responsible tourism and marine conservation.
At Prince of Whales, we understand the importance of preserving the natural environment for future generations. That’s why we have taken numerous steps to reduce our impact on the environment, from using low-emission engines on our vessels to promoting education and awareness of marine conservation issues.
Prince of Whales is proud to be involved in these three main projects:
Climate Positive: We are a certified climate positive company, certified by Ostrom Climate. Through this project we offset more than 110% of our carbon emissions. We do so by investing in environmental project, such as our support to the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project.
1% for the Planet: We are a proud 1% for the planet member. With this program we donate at least 1% of our sales to other companies’ members of the 1% for the Planet. Companies we have donated to include: Peninsula Stream Society, Ocean Wise, Pacific Salmon Foundation, Sea Smart, Center for Whale Research. Most of the companies we donate to are involved with water quality, well-being of whales, cetaceans and wildlife.
Biosphere Committed: In March 2023 we officially became Biosphere committed. This project, run by Biosphere Sustainable, aims to help achieve the 17 Sustainable Goals of the United Nations. By being committed, we pledge to improve our business practices around sustainability and continue making a difference in the community.
In addition, we have implemented various sustainable practices, such as reducing single-use plastics, promoting recycling, and using eco-friendly cleaning products. We believe that our love for nature goes beyond just offering eco-friendly tours. It’s about being a responsible member of the community and doing our part to protect the environment.
