Prince of Whales is thrilled to share exciting news: construction has begun on our fourth Salish Sea Class catamaran! Designed by the renowned naval architect Greg Marshall, this latest addition to our fleet reaffirms our commitment to blending local craftsmanship with innovative design while continuing to deliver exceptional marine adventures.
Our owner and founder, Alan McGillivray, expressed his enthusiasm about this milestone: “I am thrilled to announce the construction of our fourth catamaran. We’re proud to be working with Greg Marshall again, and we look forward to sharing the beauty of our region with even more enthusiasts while ensuring we do so responsibly and sustainably.”
This catamaran, scheduled to launch in Spring 2026, is being constructed at Bracewell Marine in Richmond, a facility known for its state-of-the-art technology and skilled workmanship. Once completed, it will join its sister ships, the Salish Sea Eclipse, Salish Sea Dream, and Salish Sea Freedom, which currently operate our whale-watching tours and private charters throughout British Columbia.
Our General Manager, Elspeth McGillivray, emphasized the significance of this new vessel: “This catamaran will enhance our ability to serve the community and our guests, by increasing our capacity to provide unforgettable experiences on our charter services and whale watching tours.”
Greg Marshall, the visionary behind our catamaran fleet, continues collaborating closely with our team to ensure that every detail of the new vessel meets our high standards. With over 35 years of experience in mega-yacht and commercial craft design and our 30-plus years in the whale watching industry, this partnership guarantees a vessel that exceeds expectations in performance, comfort, and sustainability.
As we move forward with this project, we are excited to bring a new level of excellence to the Canadian whale watching industry. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare to launch this incredible new catamaran into the Salish Sea!
