Each year on November 11, Canadians across the country pause to honour those who served and sacrificed in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping. Remembrance Day is a time to reflect on courage, resilience, and the pursuit of peace, values that continue to shape our nation and its communities.
From the coastal harbours of British Columbia to the open waters of the Atlantic, Canada’s naval forces have played a vital role in protecting freedom at home and abroad. During both World Wars, the Royal Canadian Navy escorted convoys across the North Atlantic, safeguarded supply routes, and defended our coastal waters. Many of those who served came from small coastal communities like the ones we call home today, and their legacy lives on in every generation of Canadians who work and sail these same waters.
As we look out across the Salish Sea, we’re reminded that peace and security were built through immense sacrifice, both on land and at sea. At Prince of Whales, we stand in gratitude and remembrance of those who gave everything so that we might live freely and safely.
This season, please consider donating to the Canadian Legion to support their continued efforts to aid Canadian veterans.
Lest we forget.
