HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT WHALE WATCHING TOUR FOR YOU
Whale watching is one of the most breathtaking experiences you can have when in British Columbia. The chance to observe these creatures in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and there’s no better way to do it than on a whale watching tour. However, with so many different types of tours available, it can be tough to know which one to choose. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at three of our most popular options: Half-day whale watching tours, Zodiac tours, and Sunset whale watching tours, and help you decide which one is right for you!

Half-Day Whale Watching Tours
Half-Day whale watching tours are a popular option for those who want to see whales up close and want to spend most of your day on the water, as these tours typically last for around 3.5-5 hours. Our naturalists will give you some background information about the different species you might encounter, as well as educate you on how you can make a difference in the conservation of these creatures. Our Half-Day tours are run on our beautiful Salish Sea Catamarans, that are heated, feature bathrooms, complimentary drinks and more. On this tour you will also benefit from our Free Photo Package, with the crew taking amazing pictures of the wildlife for you as you relax, and we will email you high-resolution shots after your trip!
Zodiac Tours
If you’re looking for a more adventurous whale watching experience, a zodiac tour might be right up your alley. These tours take place on small, fast boats that hold 12 passengers each, making it for a more intimate experience. You will be at water level, increasing your chances to spot something poking out of the water! With fewer passengers on a zodiac boat, there is more space and less competition for the best viewing positions, giving you an unobstructed view of the whales. This tour type is not ideal if yourself or a member of your party is under 7 years old, pregnant, or has back injury or conditions, as Zodiacs can get a little bumpy every once in a while!

SUNSET WHALE WATCHING TOURS
If you’re looking for a more suggestive whale watching experience, a sunset tour might be right for you. These tours take place in the evening, as the sun sets over the water, and they offer a different perspective on the whales than you’ll get during the daytime. The lighting is often more dramatic, which can make for some stunning photo opportunities. You will have the same likelihood of seeing whales, but these tours are shorter and more relaxing. Additionally, if you’re travelling with a partner or a group of friends, a sunset tour can be a memorable way to cap off a day of sightseeing. This tour is also run on our Salish Sea Catamarans, providing you with a very comfortable experience and it qualifies for the Free Photo Package!
So, which tour is right for you? Ultimately, it depends on your budget, your schedule, and your preferences. If you’re short on time, a half-day tour might not be the best option. If you’re looking for a more adventurous experience, a zodiac tour might be the way to go. And if you’re looking for a shorter and relaxing experience, a sunset tour might be just what you’re looking for. All our tours have a Whale Sighting Guarantee, so in the unlikely case you do not see whales you can join us again for free!
No matter which tours you choose, remember that whale watching is an unforgettable experience that you’ll treasure for a lifetime. Make sure to bring your camera and some warm layers, and get ready to be amazed by the wonders of the natural world.
