Prince of Whales Whale & Marine Wildlife Adventures is proud to announce its renewal of the BC Green Business certification for 2026, once again earning recognition as both Green Leader and Water Friendly business. This designation highlights the company’s continued commitment to environmental responsibility and leadership within British Columbia’s tourism industry!
To achieve certification, Prince of Whales completed 38 verified actions as part of the BC Green Business checklist. These actions span a range of operational improvements and sustainability initiatives, reinforcing a long-standing approach that prioritizes ocean health, responsible wildlife viewing, and continuous environmental improvement.
The BC Green Business program is designed to recognize organizations that go beyond baseline standards, supporting businesses that actively reduce their environmental impact while setting an example for others across the province. For Prince of Whales, this certification aligns closely with its broader sustainability goals, including reducing emissions, supporting marine research, and educating guests about the ecosystems of the Salish Sea.
By maintaining our Green status for many years, Prince of Whales has also been enrolled in the Green Leaders Renewal Program. This program introduces a streamlined bi-yearly renewal process, with the next recertification scheduled for 2028. The extended timeline reflects the company’s strong performance and consistent commitment to sustainability practices.
The certification is supported by the Synergy Foundation, which also provides resources such as communications best practices to help businesses effectively share their sustainability stories. In addition, certified members are encouraged to engage more broadly with the community through features on BC Green Business platforms and networking opportunities with other environmentally focused organizations across the province.
For Prince of Whales, this renewal is more than a certification. It is a continued commitment to protecting the coastal environments that make its experiences possible, and to ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same thriving marine ecosystems!
