As we celebrate Earth Month, Prince of Whales is proud to recognize our ongoing commitment to protecting the natural world. Our tours are rooted in a deep respect for marine wildlife and a dedication to responsible, sustainable tourism. At Prince of Whales, we understand the importance of preserving the environment for future generations. We continuously work to reduce our impact, from improving the efficiency of our vessels to fostering education and awareness around marine conservation.
Prince of Whales is proud to be involved in several key sustainability initiatives:
Climate Commitment
We take responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions we have not yet been able to eliminate. While we actively work to reduce our footprint, we also invest in verified carbon offsets through Ostrom Climate and collaborate with Synergy Enterprises to track and improve our environmental performance. Our offsets support the Great Bear Rainforest Carbon Project, helping protect one of the world’s most important coastal ecosystems.
1% for the Planet
We are proud members of 1% for the Planet, committing a portion of our annual revenue to environmental organizations dedicated to protecting and restoring ecosystems. Through this initiative, we support a range of partners working on issues such as marine conservation, habitat restoration, and environmental education. These collaborations allow us to extend our impact beyond our own operations and contribute to meaningful conservation efforts both locally and on a broader scale.
Biosphere Certified
In March 2023, Prince of Whales became officially Biosphere Committed through Biosphere Sustainable. This recognition supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations and reflects our ongoing dedication to improving our sustainability practices. Through this commitment, we continue to make meaningful progress for both the environment and our local community while working toward a more sustainable future.
Our Sustainability Practices
In addition, we continue to implement sustainable practices across all areas of our operations. This includes reducing single-use plastics wherever possible, encouraging recycling both on board and in our offices, and making environmentally conscious choices in the products and materials we use. From day-to-day operations to long-term planning, we are always looking for ways to lessen our environmental impact and operate more responsibly.
