Spotlight on Marine Conservation Organizations: Collaborating for a Better Future
At Prince of Whales Whale Watching, we understand the interconnectedness of marine life and the delicate balance of our oceans. That’s why we’ve chosen to align ourselves with a range of marine conservation organizations that share our passion for safeguarding these ecosystems. We want to take a moment and express our gratitude to the following organization, that help us preserve our oceans and the wildlife we get to see!
Pacific Salmon Foundation: Recognizing the vital role that salmon play in the marine food chain, being it the primary food source of Northenr and Southern Residents Killer Whales, we’ve proudly contribuited to the Pacific Salmon Foundation‘s initiatives aimed at the protection and restoration of salmon habitats.
Ocean Wise: Our collaboration with Ocean Wise reinforces our commitment to sustainable seafood practices and the responsible consumption of marine resources, ensuring that our actions align with the well-being of ocean ecosystems. We have supported Ocean Wise’s Winter Killer Whale feeding research, which aims to study dietary habits of fish-eating killer whales, to hopefully boost their population.
Sea Smart: Investing in education and empowerment, our partnership with Sea Smart supports their mission of inspiring and equipping young minds with the knowledge and passion needed to become stewards of the sea. This year, we were fortunate to have helped them develop teaching materials for youth, and supported their beach cleanups and summer camps.
Surfrider Foundation: We have also joined forces with the Surfrider Foundation, contributing to their efforts to protect coastlines and advocate for cleaner oceans through community engagement and hands-on initiatives. This summer, we cleaned up the Inner Harbour, as part of our committment to this partnership, and we have more beach cleanups up our sleeve!
RAVEN: We are very lucky to have sponsored RAVEN’S Festival Afloat, in support of reconciliation and Indigenous justice. By supporting RAVEN‘s campaigns, we are making a small difference contributing to the protection of Indigenous rights and the preservation of nature.
NIMMSA: Our partnership with the North Island Marine Mammal Stewardship Association demonstrates our dedication to responsible whale watching practices. We adhere to their guidelines, ensuring that our interactions with marine life have minimal impact on their habitats and our contribuitions aid their research on cetaceans.
We at Prince of Whales Whale Watching are grateful to have had the opportunity to support various marine conservation organizations this year. Through these initiatives, we are committed to promoting conservation, education, research, and advocacy. Through partnerships with these organizations, we not only fulfill our responsibility as guardians of the ocean, but also cultivate a shared purpose within our community. Each collaboration enhances our ability to bring about positive change, ultimately creating a better future for marine life, ecosystems, and future generations.
